Embodied Processing

A gentle space for mothers to process what life has asked of them

Motherhood changes us.

Not just emotionally, but physically, neurologically, and relationally. The experiences we move through as mothers - pregnancy, birth, sleep deprivation, responsibility, identity shifts, overwhelm, love, grief, pressure - all live in the body as much as in the mind.

Embodied Processing offers a space to slow down and meet those experiences with compassion, safety, and support.

This work is not about fixing you.

It’s about helping your body process what it has been holding.

What Is Embodied Processing?

Embodied Processing is a somatic, trauma-informed approach that works with the body and nervous system to process unresolved experiences and emotional stress.

Rather than only talking about what happened, we explore how those experiences are stored in the body and gently allow them to move through and integrate.

Many of the challenges we face - anxiety, overwhelm, emotional shutdown, burnout, or feeling constantly “on edge”  are connected to a dysregulated nervous system.

Embodied Processing works with this directly.

Through guided awareness, curiosity, and body-based exploration, we create space for the nervous system to move from survival responses like fight, flight, or shutdown into greater safety and regulation.

Why this work matters for mothers

Motherhood often asks us to keep going when we’re already depleted.

You may recognise some of these experiences:

  • Feeling overwhelmed but unable to slow down
  • Carrying emotional weight you haven’t had time to process
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or your body
  • Parenting while managing your own stress, trauma, or past experiences
  • A sense that talk therapy helped you understand things — but your body still feels stuck

Embodied Processing recognises that your body has its own story.

For many mothers, this work can be a powerful way to reconnect with themselves while still caring deeply for the people who rely on them.

What Happens in a Session?

Each session is a slow, guided process where we explore what is present for you in the moment.

This might include:

  • Noticing sensations in the body
  • Exploring emotions and nervous system responses
  • Gently meeting experiences that have not yet been fully processed
  • Supporting the body to release tension or survival energy
  • Building your capacity for nervous system regulation

Sessions are collaborative and paced around your capacity and sense of safety.

Nothing is forced, rushed, or pushed.

What This Work Can Support

Embodied Processing may help if you are experiencing:

  • Anxiety or chronic stress
  • Overwhelm or burnout
  • Emotional reactivity or shutdown
  • Unprocessed birth or motherhood experiences
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself
  • The lingering impact of past trauma or life stress

This work is about helping your nervous system build the capacity to feel, process, and move forward with greater ease.
