Rebecca’a Matrescence journey began with an unplanned pregnancy that did not continue. This resulted in complex trauma that led to unhealthy coping mechanisms for many years. With little to no support, or knowledge of what she went through, she turned against herself. Thankfully, she hit her rock bottom in her mid twenties and began her road to recovery and healing. A couple years later she fell pregnant,. Her son was born in 2013. That pregnancy came with many heartbreaks, and traumas due to challenges in her relationship. Rebecca loved being pregnant and when she became a mother for the first time she was full of joy and purpose - no baby blues with this postpartum. However, she would later gain clarity around her inherited skill to suppress emotions. In 2014, Rebecca fell pregnant with her second child and from the moment of conception her mental health plummeted. She experienced terrible depression and anxiety throughout that pregnancy and throughout her post-partum and at times felt her children would be better of without her. This had a detrimental impact on the development of her first born and also on her relationship. For the next 6 years she had challenges with her relationship. It was on and off and this had an impact on her wellbeing, and also on her children. In 2020, Rebecca fell pregnant again, this time with twins. This pregnancy was an absolute joy, along with the birth and the post partum. Rebecca had invested a lot of time and money into therapy and healing over the years and the results were showing. Her and her husband permanently separated when the twins were only 5 months old, and they then divorced in 2022 . They have been co-parenting ever since.
Rebecca juggled a successful hair and beauty business alongside raising her two eldest children, but in 2019 life forced her to take a pause in her career and focus solely on her role as a Mother. However, following the separation with her husband in 2021 she found herself needing to return to work , she began working with mothers - supporting them to become happier and healthier - following the success in doing this for herself. She studied to become a Seasons of Matresence guide and educator in 2022, as well as studying other healing modalities. Sadly, self employment and supporting a home single handily came with much stress and so in 2023 a wonderful opportunity to work with children in care was offered to her. This role has been a huge blessing for multiple reasons and she continues to work in this role part-time. Caring for the children in care is a constant reminder of how vitally important it is to look after Mothers, to support them and offer healing and recovery modalities. Because when Mothers are well cared for , then their children are are too!
Her passion to support Mothers was reignited. She began supporting Mothers again in 2024 as Matrescence guide and educator, offering Mother circles as a space for Mothers to feel seen. heard and validated in their experiences. She also recognises how heavily grief and trauma weigh on Mothers. Mothers have little time, space and capacity to process and release . Therefore she began to facilitate events in collaboration with other practitioners in the healing industry, allowing Mothers to have the time and space to heal, grieve and release emotions - because Rebecca knows all to well that when you don't it makes you unwell.
Today, Rebecca is fully embracing all that life throws at her, she has healed a tonne of trauma, she has grieved multiple losses from way back in the past to the more recent ones, and she is an absolute rockstar at releasing ALL emotions (in a healthy way) on a regular basis - no more suppressing for her!
Her journey continues, as does everyone's, she knows there will be darker days ahead but she also knows that the biggest lessons and blessing have comes from those days... so when the next winter season arrives it will not be so feared.
