About Rebecca

Hi, I'm Rebecca

I'm the founder of Becoming The Mother, a certified Trauma-Informed Seasons of Matrescence™ Educator and Guide, an Embodied Processing Practitioner, and a Conscious Connected Breathwork Facilitator.

But before any of those titles, I'm a mother to four beautiful children.

This work isn't something I simply trained in.

It's something I've lived.

My Journey into Motherhood

My journey into motherhood didn't begin with the birth of my first child.

It began with an unexpected pregnancy that ended in loss.

At the time, I had no understanding of trauma, grief, or the profound emotional impact that experience would have on me. There was very little support, and without the language or guidance I needed, I turned my pain inwards. For years I relied on unhealthy coping mechanisms, believing I simply had to survive.

Eventually, in my mid-twenties, I reached rock bottom. That became the beginning of my healing.

A few years later I became pregnant with my first son. Although my pregnancy was marked by challenges within my relationship, becoming his mother filled me with purpose, love and joy. I didn't experience postnatal depression after his birth, but I now understand that I had become incredibly skilled at suppressing difficult emotions rather than processing them.

When I became pregnant again in 2014, everything changed.

From the very beginning of that pregnancy, my mental health deteriorated. I experienced severe anxiety and depression throughout pregnancy and into the postnatal period. There were moments when I truly believed my children would be better off without me.

Looking back, I can see how deeply that struggle affected not only me, but also my eldest child and our family life.

The years that followed brought ongoing challenges within my relationship, repeated heartbreak, and emotional instability that impacted us all.

Then, in 2020, I became pregnant with twins.

This pregnancy felt completely different.

Years of therapy, healing and inner work had begun to transform my life. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum became experiences of joy, connection and peace that I hadn't believed were possible.

Five months after my twins were born, my husband and I permanently separated, and we later divorced in 2022. We continue to co-parent our children together.

While those years brought enormous change, they also confirmed something I now believe deeply:

Healing changes motherhood.

Not because life becomes easier, but because we become better supported to navigate it.

Why I Do This Work

Alongside raising my family, I built a successful hair and beauty business.
In 2019, life asked me to step away from that career and focus entirely on motherhood.
Following my separation, I needed to rebuild my life and return to work, but this time my heart was pulling me in a different direction.

I began supporting mothers to become happier, healthier and more connected to themselves, drawing on everything I had learned through my own recovery.

In 2022, I trained as a Seasons of Matrescence™ Guide and Educator, while continuing to study trauma, nervous system regulation, embodied healing and emotional wellbeing.

In 2023, I was offered the opportunity to work with children in residential care.

Supporting children who have experienced trauma has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Every day, it reminds me how vital it is that we care for mothers too.

Because when mothers receive support, healing and understanding, children benefit too.

Healthy mothers create healthier families.

Becoming The Mother

My passion for supporting mothers continued to grow, and in 2024 I returned to guiding women through the profound transition of Matrescence.

Today I facilitate:

· Mother Circles

· Breathwork for Mothers

· Grief and healing events

· Trauma-informed emotional wellbeing sessions

· Spaces where mothers can feel seen, heard and deeply understood

I know that motherhood carries incredible love.

But it can also carry grief.

Grief for who we were. Grief for births that didn't go as hoped. Grief for relationships, identity, freedom, careers, expectations and versions of ourselves we've had to leave behind.

Most mothers never get the time or space to process those experiences. Instead, they keep going.

I know what happens when we keep carrying everything without releasing it.

Eventually, it weighs on our bodies, our nervous systems and our wellbeing.

That is why Becoming The Mother exists.

What I Believe

I believe that when a child is born...

So is the mother.

She is learning, changing, grieving, growing and becoming someone entirely new.

She deserves care too.

She deserves compassion.

She deserves support that goes beyond simply surviving motherhood.

At Becoming The Mother, you'll find a space where you don't need to pretend you're coping.

A space where your nervous system can soften.

A space where your experiences are honoured without judgement.

A place to reconnect with yourself while caring for the people you love most.

How I Support Mothers

Whether you're newly pregnant, navigating postpartum, or years into motherhood and wondering why you still don't quite feel like yourself, you're welcome here.

Through trauma-informed Matrescence support, Mother Circles, Conscious Connected Breathwork, Embodied Processing, and nurturing community, I support mothers who are experiencing:

· Anxiety in motherhood

· Overwhelm and burnout

· Birth trauma or difficult postpartum experiences

· Identity loss after becoming a mother

· Nervous system dysregulation

· Grief and loss

· Relationship changes

· Emotional exhaustion

· Feeling disconnected from themselves

Every mother's story is different.

But no mother should have to navigate it alone.
